Here's what to do . . .

If your heating system isn’t working, there are two important words you need to know: Don’t Panic. If it’s not working, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s broken or in need of replacement.
It might be something very simple that you can handle yourself.

Here are six steps that will help you figure out what you need to do:

 

Check Your Thermostat:
To start your heater, set the thermostat several degrees higher than the current temperature.

Check Oil Tank Gauge: If the gauge is reading empty or is extremely low, it is likely that you need a heating oil delivery.

Turn The Emergency Switch On: This switch is usually located near the basement stairs or on the wall near the heater. |

Reset The Primary Control: This control is usually a red button that is located on top of the burner. Push this reset button only ONCE.

Check Your Electrical Fuses and Circuit Breakers: Make sure that no fuses are blown or that the circuit breaker for your heater is not tripped.
